Today, the new ATLANTIC yacht carries on this extraordinary legacy, being a faithful and authentic reproduction of the original. Modern systems and equipment have been installed to satisfy the current regulations on safety at sea, communications, and various entertainment and comfort aspects of life on board. But looking at photos of the original ATLANTIC, and her current day namesake, it is hard to spot significant differences between the two.

Beautifully clean decks reflect the yacht’s racing capability but also create the perfect place to enjoy both this vessel and the world around you. The teak laid deck is broken up by the various skylights that allow light to enter the rich and beautifully finished six cabin interior. The master cabin is worthy of the name with its mix of space, grandeur and an impressive en suite. A classical dining room is another feature, along with a salon that might provide the setting for world’s most atmospheric nightcap.

The ATLANTIC yacht set the record for the transatlantic crossing at 12 days, 4 hours and 1 minute. A mono-hull record that would stand for 100 years. The schooner was the quintessential cruiser/racer. She could do 17 knots on her steam engine of 400hp, weighing 30 tons including boiler, excluding fuel. Two generators provided for electricity. She had heating, refrigeration, and water heaters. The lobby was executed in marble and the interior was fitted out with the finest mahogany panelling. M/Y ADVENTURE 172'

Comfortable, quiet and effortlessly chic, HANIKON offers a truly relaxing family charter. The 164-foot (49.9m) HANIKON was built by Feadship in Holland and this pedigree motor yacht was conceived with the ultimate in guest comfort forefront of mind. The design facilitates outstanding stability at sea, exceptionally low noise and vibration levels and, as such, she is one of the quietest Feadships on the water.

HANIKON’S interior, by HB Design, utilizes a largely neutral color palette with warm oak wood and is extremely homely, with deep-cushioned sofas inviting guests to relax in supreme comfort.

There is accommodation for up to 12 guests across six cabins. The impressive main deck master suite has its own study and lounge, his-and-hers bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe. There are four guest cabins on the lower deck, two doubles and two twins, and the massage room (adjacent to the master suite) can be converted to form another double cabin if required.

HANIKON’s expansive bridge deck can seat 20 guests for an alfresco meal with ease, with glass windbreaks providing protection from the elements and enabling uncomplicated al-fresco entertaining in all weather conditions. Captain Armstrong founded the Sailing Collective with a passion for connecting people with the world through adventures and sailing. Having been raised with values based on multi-cultural awareness and the importance of global culture, Armstrong combined his enthusiasm for sailing and exploration to create an intergrated sailing vacation organization open to adventuers, explorers, and sailors alike. In addition to founding the Sailing Collective Travel Co, Armstrong is the co-autor of Sailing the Seas. He is also a trained musician having graduated from music conservitory in New York City and holds a graduate degree in Economics. Captain Armstrong is also wildly passionate about food and wine, which is very evident to anyone joining him on a Sailing Collective voyage.

Since a young age, Ross Beane has been relentless about sharing his love of wilderness travel with people wherever he goes. Having worked with programs from Alaska to Maine, he enjoys guiding people of all ages and abilities into beautiful and remote locations to foster technical know-how and an appreciation of the natural world. From having studied outdoor education and wilderness emergency medicine, he brings with him an understanding of risk management that keeps everything safe without compromising fun. On tiny boats, very large ones, and everything in between, Ross has made many safe crossings. He has taught sailing for The Wooden Boat School, New York Harbor Sailing Foundation, and the Manhattan Sailing School before joining Dayyan to help start the Sailing Collective.

Ali Lee navigates the realms of design and adventure, embarked on her creative journey. A graduate of FIT in NYC, she holds a degree in International Trade and Marketing with a successful career in NYC. Ali's heart remained tethered to the great outdoors. After revitalizing the Denali Art Council in Alaska, she embraced unconventional projects worldwide, from consulting for the Watamu Treehouse in Kenya to cooking at Everest's base, curated luxury camps in Antarctica, concierge for the Sheldon Chalet, worked on glaciers and in the bush for Discovery, and acted as Head Curator & Gallery Manager for the luxury hotel group Aman in Amangiri leading collaborative work with indigenous artists with a focus on honoring ancestral land through the arts. She is the founder of 'didi DADA', a lifestyle boutique and adventure concierge. Grounded in purposeful work in the outdoors and the arts, Ali weaves her narrative seamlessly into the spirit of adventure.

Gina Spinelli

Operations Manager

Gina Spinelli grew up in Maine, listening to her parent’s endless stories of worldwide adventure (both on and off the water). Her wanderlust was understandably fueled from a young age, inspiring a love for exploration and travel. Eventually, this love led her to Madrid, Spain where she worked as a photographer and highschool English teacher, and then to her current base: Lisbon, Portugal.Over the past few years, she’s melded her passions together and has worked as a photographer, writer, yoga teacher, and retreat host far and wide. In 2021, during her time at an artist residency in Italy, she co-founded Sol Creative, a retreat and event business aiming to help guests strengthen their own relationships to their innate creativity.She now manages all things operations for The Sailing Collective, and continues to be inspired by the experiential travel and the community it’s cultivated.
