Passages Offshore Captain and Sailing Instructor
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced captain and sailing instructor to join our team and teach up to ASA 104 on week-long sailing journeys. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for teaching sailing, a deep understanding of sailing theory and practice, and the ability to teach sailing to people of all learning styles on liveaboard 7 to 10 day courses.
About the Passage Offshore Sailing School:
The PO Sailing School is a branch of the Sailing Collective Travel Co. and is dedicated to creating unique educational sailing opportunities for students by creating educational itineraries in some of the most interesting and dynamic locations throughout the world. We believe that taking a student to the next level requires being placed in an environment that will push their boundaries and offer true practical foundations.
Instructor candidates should be excited about using sailing as a tool for discovery and exploring new coastal areas utilizing their knowledge to teach students in real-time. You should be comfortable sailing, captaining, and teaching in any environment and have the knowledge to troubleshoot in real-time.
Passage Offshore itineraries include Antigua to Martinique, Scottish Highlands, Norway, Iceland, Maine, Istria in Croatia, and many more.
Responsibilities:
Teach American Sailing Association 103 and 104 sailing courses to a variety of students
Prepare and deliver lesson plans that are aligned with the ASA 103 and 104 curriculum.
Assess student progress and provide feedback to help students improve their sailing skills.
Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
Conduct pre-trip safety briefings and debriefs.
Prepare and maintain charter boats for student learning.
Teach and encourage safety at sea and maintain best practices in regard to student safety
Qualifications:
Must be American Sailing Association 204 (instructor) or above certified.
Must have at least 3 years of experience teaching sailing.
Must have a strong understanding of sailing theory and practice.
Must be able to teach sailing to a variety of students, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced sailors.
Must be able to prepare and deliver lesson plans that are aligned with the ASA 103 and 104 curriculum.
Must be able to assess student progress and provide feedback to help students improve their sailing skills.
Must be able to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
Must be able to conduct pre-trip safety briefings and debriefs.
Must be able to prepare and maintain sailing equipment.
Must be able to perform other duties as assigned.
